First Lady supports over 800 families in Kitengela

The First Lady, Mama Rachel Ruto, supported over 800 families affected by floods in Kitengela, Kajiado County, with food and household items.

The exercise took place at the Kitengela Sub-County Administration offices in Kajiado County.

The First Lady confirmed the National Government and County Government’s commitment to resettling Kenyans affected by the ongoing floods across the country.

The food and household items distributed were the result of a combined effort by the national government, the Chandaria Foundation, and Aga Khan University Hospital through the Office of the First Lady.

Joseph Ole Lenku, Governor of Kajiado County, asked households living in lowlands that are prone to floods to move to safer areas to reduce the risk of loss.

He thanked the National Governments efforts to airlift help to support Kenyans whose roads have been cut off by floods in Magadi Area of the county.

Other leaders present at the event included Peninah Malonza, Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of East African Community, ASALs, and Regional Development;  Kakuta Mai Mai, Member of Parliament Kajiado East Constituency; Peris Tobiko, Senator Kajiado County; and members of the Kajiado County Assembly.
