Police recover illegal firearm in Samburu

Police in Samburu County have recovered a firearm and 28 rounds of ammunition.

The AK 47 rifle was voluntarily surrendered by an individual identified as an illegal gun holder from Suguta Marmar.

Consequently, the National Police Service has appealed to all individuals in possession of illegal firearms to follow suit and relinquish their weapons to the appropriate security agencies, including local police stations.

“The National Police Service would like to appeal to all persons who are holding illegal firearms to voluntarily surrender the same to security agencies, including police stations” NPS said on X.

This call to action underscores the urgent need for collective responsibility in curbing the spread of illicit arms and fostering peace and stability within the community.

Samburu is among areas badly affected by banditry and multiagency teams have been battling the criminals in Marsabit, Isiolo, Meru, Samburu, Turkana, Baringo, West Pokot and Elgeyo Marakwet.
