Billie Jean King Cup: Kenya misses out on promotion after finishing third

South Africa has attained their promotion back to the Billie Jean King Cup Europe/Africa group II following their 3-0 victory over Kenya on the last day of the Billie Jean King Cup Group III at the Nairobi

Club.

Gabriella Broadfoot saw off Cynthia Wanjala 6-3, 6-1, Isabella Kruger emerged victorious against Angella Okutoyi 7-6, 6-3.

Gabriella and Heike Van Vuuren partnered in the doubles to win 6-1, 3-6, 10-4 in a thrilling contest which led to rubber match after the series was tied.

Playing in the 1st to 3rd Play-Offs, South Africa kept a record six victories in their six matches against Nigeria and Kenya during the 1-3rd place play offs.

Kenya  finished third in this year’s Billie Jean King Cup, Nigeria were second.
