Faith-based institutions urged to partner with gov’t

The First Lady, Mama Rachel Ruto, has asked faith-based institutions to partner with the Government to create livelihood opportunities for youth and women without jobs.

The First Lady spoke during the Gospel Assembly Chapel’s 10th anniversary in Kisii Town.

Mama Rachel Ruto lauded the “Member Empowerment Program” by the church, where youth and women without jobs are given grants to enable them to start businesses.

The church had previously set up a shoemaking factory to produce quality leather shoes for school-going children, creating over 20 permanent jobs.

The First Lady further urged faith-based institutions to inform young people of various available Government opportunities, singling out the applications for higher education loans and grants and targeting universities and Technical and Vocational Education and Training Institutes (TVET) that were launched by the Ministry of Education this week.

Mama Rachel Ruto previously spoke to students at The Kisiii School, where she commiserated with the institution following the loss of one of their students.
