A section of youth leaders in Nairobi has welcomed President William Ruto’s move to withdraw the Finance Bill 2024 in its entirety

Led by one of their own, Newton Khamisi, they urged their fellow youths to exercise restraint and give dialogue a chance.

“We appreciate the communication from the Speaker of the National Assembly and eagerly anticipate more clarity for Kenyans regarding the next steps in this important process,” said Khamisi.

They further called for speedy investigations into police excesses during the demonstrations calling upon the government to facilitate compensation for the families that lost their loved ones.

The youth leaders acknowledged the wave of civic awakening that has swept the nation, transcending tribal, political, and religious affiliations emphasizing their readiness to engage meaningfully with the country’s challenges and to participate actively in policy development and nation-building.

“We recognize President William Ruto commitment to providing a framework for comprehensively and meaningfully engaging with, channelling, and implementing the views of the youth,” they stated.

They collectively positioned themselves as a bridge for intergenerational dialogue, calling for calm and understanding in these tense times also pledging to work together across all counties to build the nation and ensure that prosperity is found within Kenya’s borders.

“As we answer the call of our national anthem to build this nation together as one, we stand up to defend our homeland and together chart the way forward,” they said
