Tuesday 2nd July

Aarstiderne Community Dinner at Banegaarden

Enjoy fresh seasonal produce brought to you by Aarstiderne in the cosy lush surroundings of Banegaarden. Dinner will be vegetarian and served sharing-style, tickets cost 150 DKK, tea and coffee included. From 5:30 to 8 pm.

Art with your baby at Kunsthal Charlottenborg

Experience Kunsthal Charlottenborg before the official opening hours in a calm pace with space for babies and toddlers. From 10 am to 1 pm. There will also be a guided tour of Simon Dybbroe Møller‘s exhibition which is included in the admission price. Please note that the guided tour is in Danish.

Thursday 4th July

Brokeback Mountain at Cinemateket

Directed by Ang Lee and based on Annie Proulx’s short story originally published in “The New Yorker” in 1997, “Brokeback Mountain” tells the story of two cowboys who fall in love against the backdrop of the American west. Romantic, sexy, and tragic with moving performances by Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal, the film not only won three Academy Awards but also drew a huge international audience to the cinema. Watch it in original language with Danish subtitles at 9:15 pm.

Friday 5th – Saturday 6th July

Hangaren Summer Opening

Welcome summer at industrial electronic music haven Hangaren. Supergloss, DJ Hyperdrive, Steamboi, Ida Aya, Miss Puppy, and Phloem will serve tunes until the early hours. Kick off the night with happy hour at the bar from 8-10 pm and stay late. Entrance costs 75 DKK before 10 pm, 150 DKK after 10 pm, and 100 DKK after 4 pm.

Copenhagen Jazz Festival

Jazz lovers, this one’s for you. Dive into the world of jazz in a variety of locations allover the city. Held every summer since 1979, Copenhagen Jazz Festival is one of Europe’s most important music events. Find the full program including Danish and international artists on the website.

Saturday 6th July

El Perito Cuatro at Huset Gårdhaven

Based on flamenco, rumba, and more, El Perito Cuatro unites the various musical expressions of the Spanish-speaking world. From 5-5:45, tickets are free.

Sunday 7th July

Vera’s market under Buen

Tuesday 9th July

Ceramics and Italian for beginners

Get crafty and expand your linguistic horizon while you’re at it. During this five-week course, you’ll learn how to make your own ceramics pieces as well as some basics in Italian – essentially a little creative vacation in the center of Copenhagen. Tickets for the course cost 1100 DKK and the session goes from 7-10 pm.

Wednesday 10th July

LIDO x RAVE Yoga, Dips, and Breakfast

Join for a morning swim powered by H2O SPORTSWEAR, followed by breakfast, and coffee by LIDO – a new dog-friendly café and all-day hangout in the city center. The event starts at 7 am, come in activewear and ready to swim, equipment will be provided. Tickets cost 299 DKK.

Friday 12th July

Øasen

Øasen is going into its third season and you are invited. Enjoy electronic music, good food, and great company under the open sky. From 3 to 9 pm, admission is free.

Sunday 14th July

Danish on a Sunday: Europa at Cinemateket

This series aims to open up the world of Danish cinema to an international audience by showing movies in original language with English subtitles. This time, Cinemateket presents Europa by Lars von Trier. In 1945, just after Germany’s surrender, Leo, a young American of German descent, wants to be of help in the old Fatherland and signs on as a sleeping car conductor with the Zentropa Express company. Soon he finds his position politically sensitive, and gets caught up in a whirlpool of conspiracies and Nazi sympathizers.The psychological drama is considered an early triumph and won the director several awards in Cannes. It will be screened at 2:15 pm.

Saturday 20th July

Jewellery & Wine with Melt Studio

Let your creativity run freely and design your own ring in wax. Under guidance of trained jewellery designer, Anna-Katrine, you’ll learn how to sculpt your design while enjoying a drink in relaxed atmosphere, no previous experience required. After the session, you can get your ring cast in silver. Tickets are available for 450 DKK (course only) or 1350 DKK including a silver-cast ring, wine and beer are included. This candlelit course takes place in Café Livingstone at the lakes. From 4-6 pm.

Friday bar at Absalon

Late night yoga at Absalon

As the sun sets outside, unwind with a pre-bed time round of yoga. Lisbeth Moseholm will lead you through a smooth yoga flow, all levels welcome. From 9-10:15 pm. Tickets cost 100 DKK.

Good Habit Studio

Known for its supplements, Good Habit Studio has now set out to create a space to share practices for physical, emotional, and spiritual health. At the studio, the team is hosting a mix of meditation and yoga classes, some weekly and others biweekly but always powered by a lovely community. Check out the website for more information.

Summer Camp

July is vacation time in Denmark so Copenhagen Municipality is hosting a variety of events to keep children and teenagers from three to 17 years old entertained. Find the program on the website, participation is free.

Grønt Market

Get your fix of fresh, seasonal produce and meet the people who grow it: Grønt Market’s mission is to build a strong connection and community between farmers and eaters. The market takes place every Sunday but each week in another part of town, from leafy Frederiksberg to vibey Vesterbro to industrial Refshaleøen – find the calendar on the website.

Community Dinner at Absalon

Absalon hosts community dinners several days a week. Bring some friends, neighbors, or colleagues and enjoy a low key long table dinner. Food is served at 6 pm but please arrive no later than 5:45 pm and make sure to book in advance. Tickets cost 60 DKK Sunday to Thursday and 100 DKK Friday and Saturday.

Women’s Lives at The Workers’ Museum

Learn more about the known and unknown women of labor history. Discover stories of struggles, everyday life, equality, and equal pay. Explore the right to one’s own body and a place in history. This new exhibition at The Workers’ Museum gets up close to Danish women’s lives over the last 150 years.

After Nature at Glyptoteket

“Nature no longer exists. That wild, untamed nature, untouched by human beings, is a thing of the past.” So states the author Josefine Klougart in her essay “After Nature.”

Glyptotek’s new special exhibition “After Nature – A New Reading of the Glyptotek’s Paintings by Writer Josefine Klougart“ is a kind of 3D essay, combining the author’s texts with with masterpieces from the Glyptotek’s collection.

These masterpieces include French painters Edgar Degas, Paul Cézanne, Paul Gauguin, and Henri Rousseau as well as Danish painters such as Christen Købke, Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg, and Johan Thomas Lundbye. The exhibition runs until August 2024.

Simon Dybbroe Møller at Kunsthal Charlottenborg

Spanning from mid-2000’s till the present, this exhibition is the most comprehensive presentation of Danish artist and professor at the School of Sculpture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts Simon Dybbroe Møller’s practice to date. The exhibition is curated by the director of the KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin, Krist Gruijthuijsen, in close collaboration with the artist. It will be on display until August 2024.

The Time Before at Gammel Strand

Women, children, potted plants, fashion, and detailed, intimate scenes comprise the subject matter that characterizes the universe of Swedish artist Anna Bjerger and British artist Chantal Joffe. Sharing a studio in their early days created the foundation for a close relationship and a tight collaborative environment among the two women. This exhibition delves into the narrative of friendship, community, and the loneliness of being in the middle of life and longing for what has already passed. It will be on display until September 2024.

Roni Horn at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art

Born in 1955, American artist Roni Horn is considered one of the biggest names and most versatile talents in contemporary art. Her work often revolves around identity and reveals subtle undertones, secret messages, and erotic signals when her work’s shown in dialogue with a number of great movie classics. The exhibition will be on display until September 2024.

Genskin (Reflection) at Thorvaldsens Museum

Dive into the depths of ancient history and learn about the cultural, artistic, and societal significance of Etruscan mirrors. The exhibition explores how these artefacts have mirrored the Etruscan way of life, beliefs, and their enduring influence on modern artistry, notably that of Bertel Thorvaldsen. The exhibition will be on display until September 2024.

Taryn Simon: Start Again the Lament in Cisternerne

Experience this extensive sound installation by multidisciplinary artist Taryn Simon in the unique surroundings of Cisternerne. As sound and visiting bodies move through repeating archways, the installation merges darkness and light. “Start Again the Lament” explores how we mourn individually and collectively, considering the anatomy of grief and who we choose to guide us through it. Until November 2024.

Franz Gertsch at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art

In the second half of the 20th century, Swiss artist Franz Gertsch shaped a new, special concept of realism and rose to international fame for his photorealistic paintings and woodcuts. Until November, Louisana presents the first comprehensive presentation of the artist’s oeuvre in Scandinavia.

Little Table, Cover Thyself! at Design Museum Denmark

There’s something special about the art of table-setting and the way a decorated table sets the scene for special and everyday occasions. Experience how table-setting has changed over time and admire the collection of plates, figurines, jugs, and more. All the way through 2025, seven of the museum’s historical tables are decorated with items from the renaissance until today.

Guided tour: Highlights & Introduction at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art

Every Thursday from 2-2:45 pm, Louisiana Museum of Modern Art offers a guided tour of the museum’s collection and architecture. The tour is free for everyone but you need to pick up a ticket at the entrance up to two hours before the tour. This ticket is free for everyone with a valid ticket to the museum.

Basel Abbas and Ruanne Abou-Rahme at Copenhagen Contemporary and Glyptotek

In a joint effort, Copenhagen Contemporary and Glyptotek present the international artist duo Basel Abbas and Ruanne Abou-Rahme. The exhibition takes place at both institutions simultaneously and presents several of the artists’ key works in new iterations. Adapting sampling techniques prevalent in London’s drum and bass scene of the 1990s, Abbas and Abou-Rahme’s soundtracks feature archival material alongside electronic tracks and real-time recordings. The soundscapes are accompanied by striking images layered with quotes from critical and poetic texts in Arabic and English. The exhibition will be on display until November 2024.
