Kate Kamau says “tupatane Thursday” as she declares stand

As Kenyans online continue to picket, actress Kate Kamau, popularly known as Kate Actress has said she stands with the protesters.

Taking to her Instagram to share several posters from the movement, the actress said, “My stand has been and still is #RejectFinanceBill.”

Ms Kamau is among celebrities like Eddie Butita who faced the wrath of Kenyans since yesterday after what the protesters called “fence-sitting.”

Comedian Mr Butita has since last night lost about 200,000 subscribers from his YouTube channel.

Additionally, Kenyans online were just beginning to boycott products such as Harpik and Nice & Lovely before Ms Kamau clarified her stand. She is the brand ambassador for both those products.

In her statement, Ms Kamau also reiterated that the Government of Kenya did not sponsor her trip to the US, she attended at the invitation of the US Ambassador to Kenya, Meg Whitman.

She was among the entourage that accompanied President William Ruto on his state visit in May. She also attended the luncheon hosted at the Tyler Perry studios in honour of the President’s visit.

In a bid to scatter all doubts, Ms Kamau concluded by saying “Tupatane Thursday.”

Protests have been planned for Thursday, June 20, in several regions across the country.
